Named after Ariki, a classic New Zealand racing yacht launched in 1904, this Chardonnay is built for adventure — a wine that lives where salt air, sunlight and open water converge. It’s a nod to bold voyages, steady hands at the helm, and the thrill of finding fresh horizons just beyond the headland.
Grown on the south-facing slopes of Te Area Vineyard, the fruit catches the first light of day before cooling under salty summer breezes rolling in off the Hauraki Gulf. This maritime influence sets the course for lively acidity, bright citrus drive and a faint sea-spray salinity — crisp, clean and refreshing as a dip off the stern.
To add ballast and depth, we blend in fruit from the younger Chardonnay vines of Obsidian Vineyard. The result is a vibrant, fruit-forward Chardonnay with plenty of lift and length — steady through the mid-palate, bright at the bow, and finishing clean as it sails confidently home.
Bon voyage.
